Girls Inc. of Omaha is a youth-serving nonprofit with a mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. With centers in North and South Omaha, a transitional living facility, and a college prep program in Lincoln, Girls Inc. provides over 1,100 girls annually with holistic programming in the areas of academics, health & wellness, and independent living.

VGA has worked closely with Girls Inc. since 1998. Through grant writing, donor cultivation, research, and strategic planning, VGA raises more than $2 million annually to sustain and grow Girls Inc.’s operations and programs.

In addition to ongoing development support, VGA has led capital campaigns to expand Girls Inc.’s footprint and offerings. In 2016, VGA completed a $15 million capital campaign to renovate and expand the North Omaha Katharine Fletcher Center. This multipurpose facility includes an instructional kitchen, gym, fitness facility, yoga/meditation room, media lab, teen centers, and a health clinic staffed by Nebraska Medicine.

VGA also assisted with a $4 million capital campaign to renovate a former convent into a 16-bed dormitory-style transitional living facility. Protégé House, which opened in 2019, supports young women in need of additional supports, such as those aging out of foster care or survivors of domestic abuse or trafficking.

VGA provides marketing, media relations, and planning assistance for Girls Inc.’s annual Lunch for the Girls fundraiser. Past featured speakers have included Bill Clinton, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Barbara, and Jenna Bush, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Malala Yousafzai, Stacey Abrams, and Gloria Steinem.
