VGA came on board for this first-year event in 2015 after the Immigrant Legal Center (formerly Justice For Our Neighbors) found themselves without an event manager 2.5 months before the event was to take place.

It was determined that very little work had been completed but VGA moved quickly to secure the necessary food trucks, develop a unique and novel ticketing system, coordinate all operations and work out all arrangements to pull off the hoped for celebrity appearance of three stars of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. The original event in 2015 was a huge success and VGA has helped to refresh the event annually since then.

After 5 years of meeting and beating fundraising goals, the event risked not happening when the COVID pandemic hit in 2020. The VGA team helped the Immigrant Legal Center morph their largest fundraising event into a hybrid event allowing ticket-holders to drive through and pick up carry-out offerings from 6 local restaurants and then join in for a fun online event.

Proceeds from the Food Truck World Tour provide immigration legal services, advocacy, and education for low-income immigrant families in Nebraska and Western Iowa.
